Let’s all take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate all our colleagues working in branches raising money for and also those who are organising events to raise money for The Alex Timpson Trust.
It is a really special moment when you can make someone put their hard earned money into a charity tin! Whether this is by telling the customer about the incredible things we do and what we support or if it’s by taking the time doing a free job and suggesting they pop what they can into the tin, either way, thank you.
As most of you will know, we provide free holiday homes for foster families and have recently sent out the allocations, here are just some of the amazing responses we have had from those who have been successful:
“I want to take the time to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for this holiday. After a really difficult week this has completely wowed and cheered us! We can’t wait to tell the kids closer to the time! Your support of foster carers is so appreciated, thank you all!”
“My little boy wrote the application if you remember. What you did not know was that he has not written anything for 3 years. He has not been in mainstream education as he is anxious about getting things wrong and feels immense shame. Letters and handwriting is his hardest. We have been able to give him praise for his writing winning us a holiday, so thank you for the confidence boost.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing our little family to receive a holiday, the children are very excited. I am sure they will make magical memories.”
We are able to continue to provide these holiday homes due to you and your efforts, thank you.
This week you have raised £8,366.66
We also get involved with local schools, currently some of our colleagues in Timpson House are due to start mentoring at a local school, this is just an hour or so a week but what that means to that young person is invaluable.

Emma proudly presents her cheque to James and Roisin
Charity events come in all shapes and sizes. We’ve all been there. We’ve got together with a group of friends and said ‘Let’s raise money for charity ’ and before you know it you’re doing a sponsored run, selling raffle tickets or organising a cake sale …But what would you do for charity ?
One of our colleagues, Emma Ashmore, was so passionate about the Alex Timpson Trust and the work we do to raise awareness of attachment in schools, that she took it one step further and made the brave decision to shave her head for charity!… The day Emma rang the office to tell me , my reaction was ‘ARE YOU SURE!’
Emma assured me she was definitely up for the challenge and as a result raised an amazing £2121 , which she presented to James and Roisin Timpson at a recent colleague event in London.
James accepted the cheque on behalf of the Alex Timpson Trust saying ‘ Thank you to Emma, our colleagues and customers, who continually fundraise and donate to the trust through the ‘small jobs’ scheme. As a result we are able to continue our work to raise awareness of attachment , through the funding of vital research, whilst offering FREE books and holidays for foster families.’

Our fantastic colleague Kyley Bird, who works at Johnson Cleaners in the Norwich Tesco store, was inspired to dress up and hop about the store with a collection tin in aid of the Alex Timpson Trust on Good Friday. Kyley found a more than helpful little bunny in 10 year-old daughter, Alisha, who ably assisted her mum and was rightfully rewarded with a chocolate egg after helping to count all the pennies.
Our happy pair of bunny girls were thrilled to bits to raise an amazing £100 for the Alex Timpson Trust in just two energetic hours. Well done and thank you to Kyley and Alisha and the generous customers at Norwich Blue Boar Tesco!
One of our fantastic Timpson Group colleagues in the North West is starting the New Year by challenging himself to lose at least two stone in weight by April. Darren Gallimore is a Timpson Mobile Manager and serial supporter of charitable causes. On this occasion, Darren has pledged to direct monies from his sponsored slim fundraising effort to the Alex Timpson Trust.
The 42 year-old grandfather of 10, (yes, you read that right) admits to being “a bit too beefy” and hopes to shed at least 28 lbs in Alex Timpson’s memory in a bid to boost a wider understanding of Attachment theory.
“I’ve already got £450 pledged from great colleagues and friends, and I’ve set up a fundraising page too, so supporters can sponsor me via that and watch my progress,” said Darren. “I think the Trust’s work and especially its pledge to support foster families with a free holiday is fantastic. As a grandfather of 10 I know just how important it is for families to get away from the hurly burly of everyday life and stresses and just enjoy family time.”
